Job Title: Commercial Lines Underwriter Location: Stamford, CT (2 days in, 3 days remote)

Position Overview: The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting commercial insurance policies, with a focus on analyzing risk, determining coverage, and pricing policies accordingly. This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate commercial insurance applications to determine risk acceptability and appropriate coverage levels.
- Analyze financial statements, loss history, and other relevant data to assess risk factors and pricing considerations.
- Collaborate with agents and brokers to gather necessary information and negotiate terms and conditions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, underwriting assistants, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and best practices.
- Review and approve policy endorsements, renewals, and cancellations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to underwriting assistants and other team members as needed.
- Contribute to the development of underwriting strategies and initiatives to enhance profitability and growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, policies, and regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and underwriting software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- CPCU, AU, or other relevant insurance designations preferred.
