Selby Jennings is working with a Houston based Private Equity firm that invests across the Energy industry. This firm is seeking an Associate addition on their deal team with a flexible start date from near term to 2025. This firm recently closed their most recent fund and have a large pool of dry powder to deploy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in finance, accounting or engineering
- 1 - 3 years of direct experience in upstream private equity, upstream investment banking, equity research, engineering, or with an upstream operator
- Primary responsibility for oil and gas asset and/or capital project valuation
- Familiarity with operations and terminology common in the oil and gas industry
- Ability to research, organize and analyze industry data, metrics and reports
- Exhibit strong financial modeling and analysis skills
- Significant competency modeling within Microsoft Excel and experience working regularly in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and analyze new investment opportunities
- Perform detailed financial modeling and analysis/interpretation of complex data and financial statements
- Conduct industry, sub-sector and company specific research
- Assist with portfolio company monitoring and strategic planning initiatives
- Monitor and evaluate portfolio companies by analyzing capital projects, financial models and asset performance
- Evaluating oil and gas assets (historical operating statement analysis, analysis of well performance, etc.)
- Engage with management teams, advisors, and other constituents
