Job Title: Fund Accountant

About Us: A leading hedge fund based in New York City, specializing in diverse investment strategies is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fund Accountant to join their dynamic accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting for hedge fund, FX, and/or commodity portfolios. This role requires a strong understanding of hedge fund accounting, financial instruments, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for hedge fund, FX, and commodity portfolios.
- Reconcile cash, positions, and market values for all fund accounts.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of fund transactions, including trades, income, expenses, and capital activity.
- Assist in the preparation of investor reports and respond to investor inquiries.
- Collaborate with external auditors and service providers to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and analyze fund performance, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Support the implementation of new accounting systems and software as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CFA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fund accounting, preferably within a hedge fund or asset management firm.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and hedge fund accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
