Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of counterparties involved in oil trading transactions.
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and market trends to assess and quantify credit risks.
- Establish and monitor credit limits for counterparties based on risk assessments and market conditions.
- Negotiate credit terms and conditions with trading partners to minimize credit exposure.
- Monitor the credit risk exposure of the oil trading portfolio on an ongoing basis.
- Implement risk monitoring tools and systems to identify and address potential credit issues promptly.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of credit risk policies and procedures.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to credit risk in oil trading.
- Work closely with oil trading desks to understand trading strategies and potential credit implications.
- Provide timely credit risk advice and support to trading teams to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Prepare and present regular credit risk reports to senior management, highlighting key risk indicators and portfolio performance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance reporting accuracy and relevance.
- Develop and implement strategies for credit recovery in the event of default.
- Identify and recommend measures to mitigate credit risks, including collateral requirements and credit insurance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CFA) is a plus.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in credit risk management within the oil trading industry.
- Strong understanding of oil markets, trading dynamics, and associated credit risks.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements and market data.
- Proven experience in negotiating credit terms and managing credit limits.
- Familiarity with risk management tools and systems.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
