This role offers a unique opportunity to serve as a vital advisor for a financial entity in Amsterdam. You will support management in understanding and managing regulatory compliance and conduct risks, building trust and respect within the business through your expertise.
Key Responsibilities
You will assist the Regional Head in overseeing regulatory compliance and conduct matters. This includes liaising with relevant regulatory bodies such as the European Central Bank, Dutch Central Bank, and Authority for the Financial Markets.
- Building and sustaining effective working relationships with senior management, risk teams, and external stakeholders.
- Recognizing and addressing potential or existing regulatory compliance and conduct risks, and ensuring timely escalation, remediation, and reporting to keep risks within acceptable limits.
- Assisting in the independent monitoring of business operations, systems, and controls to ensure the effectiveness of regulatory compliance and conduct measures.
- Encouraging proactive collaboration with teams when changes in policy or operations are required.
- Ensuring that all adopted processes and procedures are aligned with the rules and guidance of regulatory bodies, as well as industry best practices.
Skills & Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to interpret these to support policy and procedure development. We'll look to you to have experience of interacting with regulators, and hosting regulatory on site visits, along with excellent interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
Other qualifications include;
- In-depth knowledge of local regulations, legislation, and relevant codes of practice for applicable licenses.
- Ability to interpret regulations to aid in policy and procedure development.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Extensive experience in the banking industry within a compliance function.
- Strong understanding of European regulatory requirements related to compliance and conduct.
- Basic familiarity with other areas of banking, including retail, SME, large corporate, trust funds, and depository customer segments.
- Ability to analyze multiple data sources to make informed, risk-based decisions.
