Senior IT Auditor (m/f/d)
About the Role
Our client, a major insurance company in Cologne, is seeking a Senior IT Auditor to join their internal audit team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a market leader, assessing and strengthening IT controls, cybersecurity measures, and regulatory compliance frameworks. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring IT operations remain secure, compliant, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and report on IT audits covering infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Evaluate IT risk management frameworks and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, Solvency II, BaFin regulations).
- Identify and report vulnerabilities, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in IT systems and processes.
- Collaborate with IT, risk management, and compliance teams to strengthen governance and security measures.
- Stay updated on emerging IT risks, technologies, and best practices to refine audit methodologies.
- Support external auditors and regulatory bodies during IT-related audits and assessments.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior management on IT governance, cybersecurity, and operational resilience.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5+ years of experience in IT auditing, IT security, or risk management, preferably in the insurance or financial services sector.
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor are highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of IT frameworks, cybersecurity standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., COBIT, ITIL, NIST, ISO 27001).
- Experience with auditing cloud environments, data protection, and digital transformation projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Fluency in English and German is required.
