Head of Commodity Risk
A multi-strategy hedge fund is hiring a Head of Commodity Risk to join the team in NYC or Connecticut.
Multiple commodity PMs are joining over the next 12 months, and leadership are looking for a senior market risk specialist to oversee all new and existing commodity books as the business grows, and who can manage a lean team of risk specialists. This is a front office risk role that will partner with discretionary + systematic PMs on a daily basis and interview prospective PM hires.
This is a very commercial, PM-facing risk role that will tackle portfolio construction + hedge strategy, in addition to things like pre-trade risk/reward analysis, limit monitoring and margin utilization, and overall strategy optimization. You will be managing a small team, so the ideal candidate MUST be hands on and interacting with the front office on a daily basis.
Experience across multiple commodity markets is strongly preferred - combination of: US/EU power and nat gas, FTR trading, oil complex, metals, softs/ags.
Requirements:
- 15+ years of commodity market risk experience at a bank, hedge fund, or commodity trading house
- Experience across multiple commodity markets (financial trading)
- Current experience working directly with Portfolio Managers, Heads of Trading, or Senior Traders/Desk Heads
- Leadership experience managing a risk team (2+ risk analysts/managers)
- Quantitative background + coding experience strongly preferred
