Director / Managing Director of Originations
A name brand Venture Debt firm in the SF region is looking to add on a Director/Managing Director of Originations to their team. This individual would be responsible for sourcing Tech or Life Science deals within the Northern California region. This would be a career track style position that includes a competitive base salary, large bonus potential, and stock/carry within the firm. Start date for the role is flexible. Responsibilities:
- Deal Sourcing: Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities in technology and life sciences sectors.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with venture capitalists, startup executives, and other key stakeholders in the venture ecosystem.
- Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions for debt financing transactions with new and existing portfolio companies.
- Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence, including financial analysis, business model assessment, and market potential evaluation.
- Credit Committee Presentations: Prepare and present detailed investment proposals to the Credit Committee, outlining risks and benefits.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor and manage portfolio company investments post-transaction to ensure performance aligns with expectations.
- Market Research: Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and sectors with high growth potential.
- Strategic Partnerships: Form strategic partnerships with other firms, advisors, and intermediaries to access a broader range of deal opportunities.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred but not required .
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in venture debt, venture capital, private credit, investment banking, or a related field, with a proven track record in deal origination.
- Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and presentation skills. Ability to meet or exceed business development targets and make effective decisions in fast-paced environments
- Network: Well-established networks and strong relationships within the venture capital and growth equity communities, particularly in technology and life sciences
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of technology and life sciences industries, including software, fintech, health tech, consumer products, and life sciences
