Position Summary:
The Managing Director plays a critical leadership role in originating and executing turnaround and restructuring engagements, serving as a trusted advisor to boards, C-suite executives, and key stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of financial and operational performance drivers, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to lead high-performing teams through complex, high-stakes situations. The Managing Director will also play a pivotal part in firm-wide initiatives, team development, and market positioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Originate and lead client engagements by leveraging strategic relationships and converting opportunities into engagements.
- Drive communications and maintain trusted partnerships with stakeholders-creditors, equity holders, lenders-while aligning key messages and guiding negotiations.
- Design and execute transformation strategies informed by deep financial and operational analysis.
- Oversee case delivery and workstream leadership, ensuring alignment with client goals.
- Direct liquidity management, including disbursement controls, budget compliance, and working capital optimization.
- Lead the development and review of 13-week cash flow forecasts, DIP budgets, and 3-statement models.
- Take ownership of all external deliverables, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and strategic relevance.
- Establish market presence as a respected advisor, cultivating long-term client relationships and industry credibility.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team, providing direction, feedback, and leadership development.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence within the firm.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred).
- 12+ years of experience in financial analysis, restructuring, bankruptcy consulting, or turnaround management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience resolving complex financial and operational issues.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience in client-facing roles and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Adaptable and quick to learn in dynamic, evolving client scenarios.
- Prior experience managing teams and mentoring junior professionals.
- Familiarity with bankruptcy code and legal requirements is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
