Position Overview:
As a Senior Accountant and Financial Reporter with my client, you will play a critical role in managing and reporting the financial performance of the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and transparency of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and adherence to regulatory requirements. This position requires a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and health plan finance, with an emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Provide financial reporting and analysis to senior leadership, ensuring clarity and insight into financial performance, trends, and variances.
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring all deadlines are met and that reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Ensure financial processes and transactions are in compliance with all applicable regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.
Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans, providing analysis and recommendations for optimization.
Maintain and improve financial reporting systems and processes for increased efficiency and accuracy.
Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
Stay current on industry trends, accounting regulations, and updates to healthcare-specific financial reporting requirements.
Lead, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support for their professional growth.
Other ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis duties as required by the organization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting, with at least 2 years in a senior role, preferably within a healthcare or health plan environment.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Experience with financial reporting software and advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, or other enterprise systems is a plus.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and manage relationships with external partners, including auditors and regulators.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in healthcare or health plan financial operations.
Knowledge of CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations and reporting requirements.
Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
