Senior Accountant, Financial Reporter

They are looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their finance team.

Position Overview:
As a Senior Accountant and Financial Reporter with my client, you will play a critical role in managing and reporting the financial performance of the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and transparency of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and adherence to regulatory requirements. This position requires a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and health plan finance, with an emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

• Provide financial reporting and analysis to senior leadership, ensuring clarity and insight into financial performance, trends, and variances.

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring all deadlines are met and that reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

• Ensure financial processes and transactions are in compliance with all applicable regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls.

• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.

• Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans, providing analysis and recommendations for optimization.

• Maintain and improve financial reporting systems and processes for increased efficiency and accuracy.

• Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.

• Stay current on industry trends, accounting regulations, and updates to healthcare-specific financial reporting requirements.

• Lead, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support for their professional growth.

• Other ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis duties as required by the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting, with at least 2 years in a senior role, preferably within a healthcare or health plan environment.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Experience with financial reporting software and advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, or other enterprise systems is a plus.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

• Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and manage relationships with external partners, including auditors and regulators.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in healthcare or health plan financial operations.

• Knowledge of CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations and reporting requirements.

• Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
