AVP of E&S Property Underwriting

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Property Leader with expertise in Excess & Surplus Lines to join this growing team. In this role, you will drive the growth of the E&S Property business on a national scale.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CUO and VP of Underwriting to develop and implement growth strategies for the E&S property business.
  • Underwrite small and middle-market E&S property accounts; manage referral property accounts via a nationwide binding authority program.
  • Oversee the performance of the E&S property portfolio, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to boost profitability.
  • Lead, hire, mentor, and train Property Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters.
  • Manage aggregate exposure in wildfire and wind CAT areas; establish CAT aggregate strategy and oversee reporting process.
  • Develop, monitor, and update property underwriting guidelines and rates.
  • Build and maintain relationships with wholesale brokers and internal teams to drive business growth and retention.
  • Collaborate with treaty and facultative reinsurance markets to optimize reinsurance strategy.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of property Excess and Surplus Lines underwriting experience at an E&S carrier (commercial lines and homeowners)
  • In-depth knowledge of property insurance products, CAT exposure (wind and wildfire), underwriting principles, and risk assessment methodologies
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities for assessing complex risks and making sound underwriting decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven self-starter with a history of proactive performance
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
