Senior Manager, Credit Risk Operations
I'm currently working with a leading e-commerce and fintech company seeking a Senior Manager, Credit Risk Operations to lead credit underwriting operations for a large and complex commercial portfolio in North America.
This role involves directly managing a team of credit analysts, driving improvements in credit policy and underwriting operations, and working closely with cross-functional partners in product, sales, and risk. It requires a blend of strategic leadership and hands-on execution to scale underwriting processes and support sustainable portfolio growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of credit analysts responsible for daily underwriting and credit decisions.
- Coach, mentor, and scale the underwriting team while ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Drive improvements in underwriting frameworks and tools for both automated and manual decision-making.
- Define and enhance processes and documentation to enable scalable growth.
- Review and make judgment calls on complex credit cases or exceptions.
- Monitor key metrics to assess decision quality, operational efficiency, and team performance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including product, sales, and operations, to balance customer needs with risk control.
- Serve as a thought leader in underwriting strategy and platform enhancement.
Qualifications:
- At least 8 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting using financial data, bank statements, or credit reports.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale underwriting operations, ideally within a global or complex portfolio.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience managing and developing teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects involving multiple departments.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
