Practice Leader

Overview

My client is actively seeking a Practice Leader to join their senior leadership team and drive growth in the public sector and multiemployer (Taft-Hartley) benefits consulting space. This is a high-impact, strategic role for a seasoned leader with a proven track record advising large public entities, municipalities, and union-based organizations.

As my client described it: This is more than a leadership role - it's a chance to practice, drive innovation, and shape the future of a firm.

The ideal candidate will bring deep consulting experience, a strong network in the public and labor sectors, and an entrepreneurial mindset to lead, expand, and elevate client partnerships at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow key client relationships within the public sector and multiemployer space (e.g., clients like CalPERS, City of New York, trade unions, Taft-Hartley funds)

  • Oversee consulting strategy and service delivery with a focus on benefits design, portability, cost management, and long-term impact

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior-level stakeholders across diverse, complex organizations

  • Mentor and develop the consulting team, fostering collaboration across offices and practice areas

  • Drive business development, thought leadership, and firm growth through strategic and entrepreneurial thinking

  • Travel regionally as needed to maintain and expand client relationships

What They're Looking For

  • 15-20+ years of experience in benefits or financial consulting

  • Deep expertise working with public sector and/or Taft-Hartley/multiemployer benefit plans

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience

  • Strong executive presence, credibility, and negotiation skills with both public and private sector clients

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for shaping and growing a consulting practice

  • Commitment to inclusive leadership - women and candidates from underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to lead with purpose - building solutions that improve lives, strengthen organizations, and shape the future of employee benefits. You'll work alongside other mission-driven professionals in a values-based firm that rewards innovation, integrity, and impact.
