Debt Originations Associate
Overview:
Selby Jennings is partnered with a real estate investment firm who specializes in opportunistic debt and equity investment throughout the capital stack. They were founded in 2012, the firm has invested over $4 billion and currently has nearly $3 billion in assets under management deployed across a variety of investment strategies. They are relatively asset class agnostic and touch all of the 4 main property types with some niche classes as well. They are headquartered in Atlanta with a handful of other locations across the U.S.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the evaluation, underwriting, recommendation, and origination of new investment opportunities.
- Interface with external counterparties including borrowers/partners, brokers, lenders, attorneys, and third party vendors.
- Fully underwrite and structure prospective investment opportunities with minimal oversight.
- Define key transaction risks and propose appropriate structures to mitigate defined risks.
- Draft, structure, and negotiate term sheets.
- Prepare recommendations, credit memos, and presentations to Investment Committee.
- Manage the closing and documentation process with minimal oversight.
- Perform property visits and meet with borrowers and/or partners.
- Continue investment asset management from origination to disposition.
