Chief Operating Officer

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our leadership team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in underwriting for small business insurance, excess casualty, primary casualty, inland marine, and general liability. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of operational excellence and leadership in the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of executives (IT, Marketing, Sales, Finance, etc.).
  • Lead the underwriting team to ensure efficient and effective processes for small business insurance, excess casualty, primary casualty, inland marine, and general liability.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and other executives to set and drive the organizational vision and operational strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Manage relationships with partners and vendors.
  • Drive company results from both an operational and financial perspective, working closely with the CFO, CEO, and other key executive team members.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on underwriting for small business insurance, excess casualty, primary casualty, inland marine, and general liability.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as a COO or similar position.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles.
  • Familiarity with diverse business functions such as marketing, PR, fundraising, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus.
