Selby Jennings is partnered with a renowned proprietary trading firm on a business-critical search for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Commodity Trading team in Austin, TX (or Houston, TX). Expertise in professional python coding and data analytic and/or ML tools is required, and a background in trading is preferred, however, the team is open to software engineers with impressive/notable backgrounds (such as in Big Tech and/or start ups).
Responsibilities:
- Develop tools and workflows to facilitate exploratory research.
- Design Python APIs to boost research productivity.
- Maintain and define Python research environment, optimized for data-intensive tasks.
- Create web user interfaces for data exploration and presenting research findings.
- Collaborate with researchers to implement studies, analytics, and production models for commodities trading.
- Utilize the firm's Linux computer cluster in collaboration with the research infrastructure team.
- Enhance processes for data acquisition, storage, and accessibility in collaboration with data management teams.
- Construct data and ML infrastructure to make trading data sets accessible and beneficial for researchers.
- Oversee production workflows for real-time forecasting, modeling, and analytics within the Linux compute environment.
- Develop systems for back testing and creating systematic trading strategies, and deploy them into the production trading environment.
Qualifications:
- Expert in python coding
- Experience in API design/usability
- Modern data technology exposure (ex: Airflow, Snowflake, Postgres, etc.)
- ML tools and/or scalability of analysis
- Data visualization exposure (Dash, Plotly, etc.)
- Comfortability in secondary coding language (C++, Rust, etc.)
- Computer Science (or similar, like mathematics)
