Role Overview:
Our client, a reputable middle market bank, is seeking a Portfolio Valuation Analyst to join their dynamic Valuations group. The Portfolio Valuation Analyst is responsible for evaluating and maintaining the valuations of investment portfolios, with a focus on M&A transactions, private equity, and debt investments. This role involves conducting detailed valuation analysis, preparing reports, and working alongside banking and non-banking institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Valuation Analysis: Perform valuations of private equity and debt investments using proprietary models and methodologies.
* M&A Transactions: Analyze and evaluate M&A transactions, including reviewing Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs) and assessing valuation implications.
* Financial Modeling: Create and maintain complex financial models to support valuation analysis and investment decisions.
* Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence on investment opportunities, including market research and financial analysis.
* Reporting: Prepare comprehensive valuation reports and present findings to senior management and clients.
* Data Management: Maintain and update portfolio data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Compliance: Ensure all valuations comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
* Client Interaction: Communicate valuation results and methodologies to clients, addressing any queries and providing insights.
* Collaboration: Work closely with deal teams to understand transaction structures and valuation implications, and collaborate with portfolio managers, risk management, and compliance teams.

Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are preferred.
* Experience: 1-3 years of experience in audit, portfolio analysis, valuations, M&A transactions, or related roles within the financial industry.
* Skills: Strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial modeling, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail.
* Strong Academic Record: Competitive GPA from a reputable post-secondary institution.
* Software: Competent in using valuation software and tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, and other financial databases.
