Portfolio Analytics Developer

We are working with a leading Tier 1 Multi Manager that is looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled Portfolio Analytics Developer to join a new equities desk in their San Francisco office. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to deepen their understanding of portfolio management, data analytics, and investment processes. The right candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working closely with data, automating workflows, and contributing to the daily operations of a dynamic investment platform. Over time, there is significant potential to grow into a PM-facing or investment-oriented role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reporting tools for equity portfolios, focusing on performance, risk, and exposure metrics.
  • Streamline and automate routine reporting tasks using Python, SQL, or similar technologies to drive efficiency and minimize operational risk.
  • Support the creation of materials for internal portfolio reviews and investment committee presentations.
  • Work closely with internal data engineering teams and external data providers to ensure data integrity and reliability.
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements to the team's analytics and reporting framework.
  • Develop new tools and visualizations to communicate complex quantitative insights to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a quantitative, data analysis, or investment analyst role (buy-side or sell-side).
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Jupyter); SQL experience is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of equity markets and investment principles, including factor models, performance attribution, and risk assessment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Plotly/Dash.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable working in a high-performance, intellectually demanding environment.
