Senior Group Underwriter
An international life insurance company is looking for a Senior Group Underwriter to join their team in New York, NY. This full-time position offers a hybrid work schedule. The Senior Group Underwriter will be responsible for following underwriting guidelines and selection standards to ensure the profitability of new business accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Price new business cases within specified timeframes.
- Assess new business opportunities to ensure they meet underwriting guidelines.
- Calculate manual and experience-rated new business accounts.
- Issue appropriate rates and clearly describe terms of the offer.
- Explain offers to sales and service staff.
- Accurately price plan modifications and respond to pricing appeals on quotes.
- Review and approve sold cases, making adjustments for non-standard manual rates.
- Participate in various projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in group life/health underwriting.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel.
- Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
- Ability to work cooperatively and flexibly on projects with members of other departments.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
