Director, Premium Accounting

Our client, a Leading P&C Insurance Firm, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Premium Accounting to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a large team overseeing all premium accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of P&C insurance accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of premium transactions in accordance with GAAP and statutory requirements.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of premium accounting processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the development and implementation of automated accounting systems and processes.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management.
  • Monitor and analyze key financial metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage internal and external audits related to premium accounting.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA, CFA or equivalent certification preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the P&C insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and insurance regulations.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
