Commercial New Business Representative
The Commercial New Business Representative collaborates with sales agents, internal account executives, and agency clients to deliver competitive and comprehensive insurance solutions for new business, while also conducting thorough reviews of existing policies when necessary.
Essential Functions
- Build application packets for the sales team
- Review best coverages for accounts with the sales team
- Market accounts to insurance carriers efficiently to meet business and sales team needs
- Respond promptly and accurately to underwriting questions
- Negotiate with carriers on behalf of the agency and clients
- Meet turnaround time expectations as determined by sales agents and internal guidelines
- Record and retrieve data using the agency management system
- Send accounts for signature and binding remotely
- Provide timely invoicing, billing, and payment receipt information to accounting to avoid lapses in coverage or late penalties
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business or related field
- 440 Insurance License / 220 Insurance License
- 2+ years of industry experience in commercial underwriting, commercial account management, or commercial insurance marketing.
- Experience in a commercial department at an independent agency
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and AMS 360
- Understanding of Commercial Insurance Rating Factors, Carrier Guidelines and Appetites
- Proficient communication in person, by phone, and by email with team members and insureds
