Risk Manager, Natural Gas
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily market risk exposures (VaR, P&L attribution, stress testing) for natural gas trading activities.
- Develop and maintain risk models and methodologies to accurately capture exposures across physical and financial positions.
- Work closely with trading to understand strategies, deal structures, and optionality embedded in contracts.
- Evaluate and model potential impacts of price volatility, basis risk, and seasonal exposures.
- Ensure compliance with internal risk limits and escalate breaches to senior leadership.
- Produce and present regular risk reports and analysis to risk committees and senior management.
- Support continuous improvement of risk systems, data feeds, and analytics tools.
- Collaborate with credit, operations, and accounting to ensure accurate and consistent data and reporting.
- Provide insight on market trends, liquidity conditions, and emerging risk factors in the natural gas space.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or certifications a plus.
- 6+ years of experience in energy trading risk management, with a strong focus on natural gas markets.
- Deep understanding of physical and financial gas products, including basis, options, and structured transactions.
- Strong quantitative skills with experience in risk modeling, Monte Carlo simulations, and/or scenario analysis.
- Proficiency with ETRM systems (e.g., Endur, Allegro, RightAngle) and tools like Excel, Power BI, Python, or SQL.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work across functions and influence decision-making.
- High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive mindset.
