Role: Director of Mergers & Acquisitions
Location: Winston-Salem, NC (or Hybrid from Charlotte, Raleigh, or Greensboro)
Company Summary: We are currently partnered with a highly acquisitive commercial real estate company looking to add a Director of M&A to their highly active and quickly growing deal team. The M&A team focuses on meeting the company's growth efforts by identifying potential acquisition targets in the lower middle market/middle market space, and acquiring either the real estate of the acquisition target or the entire business itself. Through this unique and dynamic approach, this individual will have the opportunity to spearhead internal growth efforts as well as assist the growth of their real estate clients.
The Director of M&A will:
- Oversee both sell-side and buy-side M&A advisory projects from start to finish.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis and modeling for acquisitions and divestitures.
- Manage detailed due diligence processes to evaluate financial, operational, and legal risks.
- Build and maintain relationships with strategic mid-market buyers and sellers.
- Structure and negotiate deals to align with client and company goals, maximizing value.
- Work closely with internal teams and external advisors to ensure smooth execution of M&A transactions.
- Offer strategic insights on market trends, industry consolidation, and growth opportunities.
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports and recommendations to leadership.
- Lead business development initiatives by establishing strategic relationships with private equity buyers and sellers.
The Director of M&A should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
MBA or CFA preferred.
- Over 7 years of experience in mid-market M&A advisory, investment banking, private equity, or corporate development.
- Proven success in managing complex M&A transactions.
- Strong skills in financial modeling, valuation, and analysis.
- Excellent negotiation and deal structuring abilities.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams.
