VP of Financial Planning & Analysis

Our client, a start-up P&C Insurance Firm, is looking to add a Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to their team. This position will play a critical role in driving the financial strategy and performance of the company. This individual will lead the FP&A team, providing strategic insights and actionable recommendations to senior leadership. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the P&C insurance industry, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of driving financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and implement financial strategies that support the company's goals and objectives. Provide financial insights and recommendations to the executive team.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Oversee the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and analyze key financial and operational metrics. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve financial performance.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the FP&A team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Ensure the team has the skills and resources needed to succeed.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including underwriting, claims, and reinsurance, to ensure alignment of financial goals and strategies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements. Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes.
  • Special Projects: Lead or participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, such as mergers and acquisitions, system implementations, and process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the P&C insurance industry.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting tools.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the P&C insurance industry, including regulatory requirements and market dynamics.
