We are partnering with a leading international energy company to find a Risk Manager to join their team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in managing trading risks within the European gas and power markets while working in a collaborative and high-performance setting.

The Role:

As a Risk Manager, you will be responsible for assessing and managing the risks associated with energy trading, focusing on the gas and power markets. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Risk Analysis & Reporting: Provide clear and concise risk insights to both traders and senior management to support decision-making and risk mitigation.
  • Portfolio & Business Risk Assessment: Develop and implement risk strategies for renewable PPAs and long-term contracts, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Risk Governance & Controls: Define, monitor, and enforce limits while contributing to the risk frameworks that maintain operational and financial integrity.
  • System Implementation: Support the rollout of a new risk management system for power assets, ensuring smooth implementation and integration into the firm’s operations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong Risk Management Experience: Proven experience in energy trading, asset trading, or financial markets, with a strong focus on managing trading risks.
  • Risk Analysis Expertise: In-depth understanding of delta, gamma, and vega risk positions, and how they apply to market trading.
  • Exposure to Renewable Energy: Experience with renewable energy markets, PPAs, and long-term contracts will be considered a strong asset.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to assess complex data, identify trends, and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.
  • Educational Background: A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or another relevant quantitative field.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; German is a plus.
