eFX Quantitative Trader
Our Client- a Tier 1 Bank- is lookign for an eFX Quant Trader, part of a high-performing team at the forefront of market-making and electronic trading innovation. As the FX landscape continues to evolve, Barclays is investing heavily in expanding its electronic trading capabilities, with a strong focus on data-driven trading, automation, and franchise optimisation across spot and NDFs, with a plan to expand into swaps/forwards.
This seat sits at the intersection of trading and quant development - blending strategy design, risk-taking, and real-time pricing. You will work closely with trading, quant research, and sales teams to improve pricing logic, automate decision-making, and enhance client execution performance.
Qualifications
Required:
- MSc in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science)
Preferred:
- PhD in a quantitative subject
Professional Experience & Knowledge
Required:
- 5+ years' experience on an eFX trading desk or similar electronic trading function
- Proven experience developing and deploying pricing, hedging, or execution strategies in production
- Strong command of statistics, market microstructure, and machine learning techniques relevant to trading
- Fluency in Python
- Experience collaborating with trading and sales teams in a front-office environment
Preferred:
- Familiarity with KDB/q and Java
- Experience with franchise optimisation and internalisation logic
- Familiarity with ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, xgboost, pytorch)
- Experience in a risk-taking capacity or ownership of strategy performance
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of live book-running activity, managing risk and reacting to market conditions in real time while working closely with other traders and quantitative stakeholders.
- Design and enhance pricing and hedging strategies across FX Spot and NDFs
- Leverage analytics to improve execution, internalisation, and client quoting
- Build automation tools and dashboards to support trading decisions
- Collaborate with quant researchers and developers to push production strategies forward
- Analyse client flow and trading behaviour to identify commercial opportunities
- Contribute to the desk's expansion into FX Swaps over time
