Director of Enterprise Risk
Role Overview
As the Director of Enterprise Risk, you will work closely with the Chief Risk Officer and senior management to:
Enhance the Risk Framework: Drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of risk policies, procedures, and methodologies.
Risk Leadership & Management: Lead efforts to identify, quantify, and escalate risks, ensuring rigorous monitoring and reporting to executive leadership and the Board.
Advisory & Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to the President and senior management, and represent the risk function in engagements with regulators and external stakeholders.
Team Leadership: Oversee and mentor teams responsible for day-to-day risk monitoring, model validations, credit reviews, and operational risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Risk Management: Define and execute the strategy for the Risk Oversight Department, maintaining a strong and disciplined risk culture.
Framework Development: Maintain and enhance the overall risk management framework, including setting risk appetite statements and limits.
Risk Measurement: Develop and manage quantitative tools and methodologies to monitor and evaluate both financial and non-financial risks.
Regulatory & Industry Engagement: Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulatory requirements, and contribute to industry forums on clearing house risk management standards.
Key Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background: Advanced degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or equivalent) in a numerical discipline.
Professional Expertise: Significant experience in financial services risk management or a related assurance/analytical role, with in-depth knowledge of financial markets and derivatives.
Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in developing or validating margin models and understanding the regulatory environment for financial market infrastructures.
Leadership & Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
Desirable Attributes:
Experience with enterprise risk frameworks and the three lines model.
Prior exposure to clearing house operations.
CQF qualification is an advantage.
