Commercial Insurance Department Manager

The Commercial Department Manager (CDM) will lead the commercial department team in renewal management and client servicing. The CDM will engage in strategic operational functions to enhance team members' knowledge and contribute to the value and profitability of the team, aligning with the company's strategic mission.

Essential Functions

  • Manage a team of 7-10 account managers on the Commercial Lines Team
  • Oversee accurate input of policy information in Vertafore/AMS 360
  • Track new, renewed, and canceled accounts - generate and manage reports, including renewal lists
  • Monitor and report on monthly and overall retention
  • Provide guidance and corrections to Commercial Lines Team members on company and department procedures
  • Track team member progress on client accounts to ensure accuracy and timely completion
  • Monitor carrier updates to maximize profitability on lines of business
  • Present department summaries to the executive team, reporting on issues and achievements
  • Assist Human Resources with periodic reviews for department staff, as well as with job descriptions, intern objectives, and recruiting efforts/interviews for
  • Represent the company and department professionally in interactions with personnel, customers, vendors, and marketers

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business or related field
  • 220 Insurance License
  • 4+ years of insurance agency experience in client relationship management, account management, etc.
  • Management / leadership experience
  • Experience with Vertafore AMS 360 platform
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Understanding of Commercial Insurance Rating Factors, Carrier Guidelines and Appetites
  • Proficient communication in person, by phone, and by email with team members and insureds
