Strategy Associate
Selby Jennings has been retained to find a strategy associate to join a prominent family office in Dallas, Texas.
This role will study current and prospective investments to provide meaningful data and analysis of performance, compile research, develop financial reports and presentations. The position will engage in daily and proactive outreach to gather information and insights related to a wide variety of projects.
The successful candidate will be analytically minded, proficient in financial modeling, have a strong business and investment acumen, conversant with business terminology, able to work autonomously and have strong interpersonal skills. This role requires thinking big picture, focusing on the overall impact of the task or project at hand.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with founder on projects relating to personal investments; includes providing analyst support on special projects including new personal investments
- Review and analyze companies to determine key drivers impacting company P&Ls, balance sheet, cash flow
- Work with data gathered from our portfolio to curate analyses and provide insights
- Conduct research for the family office
- Create analytical reports and models to further understand key business drivers and metrics
- Work with accounting departments of family office and foundation on special projects
- Design and implement forecast models and tools
- Attend annual investment meetings, in-person and by phone, and report back findings to principal
- Work closely with the founder to evaluate proposed growth opportunities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting,
- Master's degree in accounting, Strong conceptual and practical GAAP and accounting knowledge, CPA a plus
- 5-year experience handling financial evaluations in banking, or investment banking
- Excellent with numbers, advanced proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, pivot tables, financial
- Proven ability to drive projects to completion
- Results-oriented and will link analysis to business goals
- Quick study, intellectually curious and committed to continuous learning
- Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
- Be a self-starter with a positive and proactive approach
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical writing skills a must
- Avid reader
- Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as necessary with high sense of urgency
- Positive energy with strong interpersonal skills
