- Evaluate and Underwrite Applications: Assess specialty insurance applications, ensuring they meet company guidelines and standards.
- Analyze Risk Factors: Determine appropriate coverage and pricing based on risk analysis.
- Build Relationships: Develop and maintain strong connections with brokers, agents, and clients.
- Collaborate: Work with other underwriters and departments for comprehensive risk assessment.
- Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging risks.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional support to clients and partners.
- Reporting: Prepare and present underwriting reports and recommendations to senior management.
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in specialty underwriting (entertainment, medical professional, credit, aviation, environmental, habitational, private directors and officers)
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, ARM) are a plus.
