Investor Relations Operations Associate

A leading Private Equity firm in Houston, TX is seeking a Reporting and Investor Relations individual. The role will report to the Partner and Head of Investor Relations and will work closely with the CFO and the firm's Partners on reporting, fundraising, and general investor relations activities. The candidate will collaborate with the firm's portfolio companies, investor relations, and investment teams to routinely aggregate portfolio company metrics, develop related reports, and integrated analyses to support performance measurements, quarterly reporting, valuations, fundraising processes, and respond to investor relations inquiries. This position will enable the successful candidate to participate in various aspects of institutional investor relations, gaining the training and experience needed to pursue a long-term career in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting:

  • Lead portfolio company data collection and maintain the internal database, iLevel, used for portfolio monitoring, valuations, and investor reporting.
  • Onboard new portfolio companies and work with management and deal teams to develop dashboard metrics, ensuring consistent metrics are captured.
  • Produce and analyze weekly and monthly portfolio company reporting packages, ensuring all financial information is received on time and entered into iLevel accurately.
  • Identify opportunities to efficiently organize and present key data and trends.
  • Work closely with the CFO and investment teams to review and quality control the quarterly valuation process.
  • Coordinate the assimilation of the quarterly report to Limited Partners.
  • Maintain investment performance models that provide information on quarterly portfolio valuation and returns for investors.

Fundraising:

  • Prepare fundraising-related materials (PPM, DDQ, pitchbook, responses to specific investor questions).
  • Create and maintain due diligence questionnaires and data files to facilitate the dissemination of information during fundraising.
  • Draft responses to prospective investor questionnaires and inquiries.
  • Oversee an institutional-quality data room to facilitate due diligence requirements.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant fund governing documents.

Investor Relations:

  • Maintain investor pitchbook, investment track record, and portfolio company case studies.
  • Design and produce new communications materials that are responsive to LP needs.
  • Assist with the preparation of sophisticated analyses to support investor communications.
  • Leverage data and industry information to conduct market and competitive analyses.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the firm's Annual Meeting, including assisting with drafting key messages, materials, and overseeing event-related details.
  • Assist with co-investor reporting and communication.
  • Respond to LP data inquiries and information requests, coordinating with various internal constituencies - deal teams, finance group, legal, compliance.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of professional experience in an analytical role developing financial and valuation models.
  • Experience in a Transaction Advisory Services practice of a Big 4 or nationally recognized public accounting or consulting firm, or a bulge bracket or leading middle-market investment bank.
  • Bachelor's degree with a superior GPA in Finance, Accounting, or a related major, with a solid grasp of investments.
  • Previous experience with alternative investments, especially private equity, is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, Excel, financial modeling, valuation, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Strong computer skills with advanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills required.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
