Portfolio Construction Analyst

We are partnered with a Leading Global Multi-Strategy Hedge Fund seeking a technically proficient and astute Portfolio Analyst to join their high-performing investment team. This role is positioned at the intersection of quantitative research and portfolio management, offering a unique opportunity to contribute directly to portfolio construction, factor modeling, and risk optimization initiatives.

This is a strategic hands-on role that provides direct exposure to senior portfolio managers and investment leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical toolkit, a deep understanding of multi-factor risk models, and a proactive approach to delivering actionable insights that enhance portfolio performance.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Deliver actionable portfolio insights to PMs focusing on risk decomposition, factor exposures, and performance attribution
  • Enhance and maintain portfolio construction and analytics tools to support day-to-day decision-making
  • Apply third-party (e.g., Barra, Axioma) and proprietary factor models to explain and evaluate portfolio characteristics
  • Conduct factor- based scenario analysis, stress testing, and factor-based attribution across strategies
  • Automate reporting and build intuitive dashboards for use by PMs, risk teams, and investment committees
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve data work flows and infrastructure supporting portfolio analytics
  • Participate in research related to signal validation, portfolio optimization, and model improvement

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in a portfolio analytics, quantitative research, or investment risk role within a hedge fund, asset manager, or sell-side environment
  • Hands-on experience with factor models (Barra, Axioma etc..)
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or equivalent; SQL knowledge is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of portfolio construction, performance attribution, and modern risk frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with PMs and senior stakeholders
  • High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a results-driven mindset
