Job Overview:
A highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Underwriter to join a dynamic underwriting team. The Junior Underwriter will support the underwriting process by evaluating and analyzing insurance applications, assessing risks, and ensuring compliance with company guidelines and policies. This role is ideal for individuals looking to start their career in the insurance industry, with opportunities to grow and develop under the mentorship of experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in reviewing insurance applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.

  • Evaluate risks associated with new and renewal policies in accordance with established underwriting guidelines.

  • Work closely with senior underwriters to assess risk factors and determine appropriate coverage and pricing.

  • Input and maintain accurate data in underwriting systems and ensure proper documentation is recorded.

  • Collaborate with other departments such as sales, claims, and customer service to resolve issues or questions related to underwriting.

  • Communicate with brokers, agents, and clients to clarify information and request additional details when needed.

  • Support the creation and preparation of policy documents, endorsements, and certificates.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of industry regulations, company policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.

  • Assist with various administrative tasks related to underwriting and policy management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.

  • Basic knowledge of insurance products and underwriting principles is a plus, but not required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • A willingness to learn and grow within the underwriting field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience or internship in underwriting, insurance, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of underwriting software and industry-specific tools.
