Underwriting Manager
Our client, a prominent healthcare organization, is seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead and enhance their underwriting operations. This critical role is responsible for guiding the underwriting team, refining risk evaluation processes, and working cross-functionally with departments such as Sales, Actuarial, Claims, and Billing to support sustainable growth and financial integrity. The successful candidate will bring a blend of hands-on underwriting expertise and strategic management skills, especially within the health insurance space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day activities within the underwriting function, ensuring timely and accurate risk assessments.
- Provide leadership and direction to the underwriting department to support organizational goals.
- Collaborate closely with teams across the business to align underwriting strategies with market conditions and internal objectives.
- Help develop and refine underwriting guidelines and methodologies, with attention to regulatory compliance and industry best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in health insurance underwriting, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Direct experience in pharmacy underwriting strongly preferred.
- In-depth understanding of healthcare products, risk selection, rating methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor underwriting staff, while working effectively with other business units.
- This is an hybrid role based in Birmingham, AL-candidates must reside locally or be willing to relocate.
