A mid-sized P&C Insurance firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Accountant to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely filing of federal and state tax returns, managing premium tax returns, overseeing assessment payments, and handling statutory reporting requirements. This position is a critical role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations and resolving any related issues.
What you'll be doing…
- Ensure the timely filing of quarterly premium tax returns by third-party providers. Review and approve annual premium tax returns prepared by these providers.
- Prepare and analyze state-required statutory reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Reconcile premium tax payments quarterly between company records and third-party provider. Reconcile surcharge accounts on a quarterly basis.
What you'll need to be successful…
- 5+ years of tax accounting or similar accounting experience
- Experience working within the P&C Insurance industry is a plus, but not required
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
