Senior Investment Accountant
A Life Insurance firm is looking to add a Senior Investment Accountant to the team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of investment accounting experience. Don't miss out on the opportunity to join this collaborative and rapidly growing team!
**This role will be 3 days onsite in Des Moines, IA.
What you will do…
- Act as the department's subject matter expert, addressing complex tasks and inquiries while researching and applying new accounting and financial reporting requirements, including statutory guidelines and GAAP insurance investment accounting.
- Prepare and review annual and quarterly statutory filings for various investments, ensuring compliance, data quality, and trend analysis, and serve as the primary contact for financial reporting and auditors.
- Handle compliance and regulatory reporting, distributing data and disclosures to stakeholders, and ensure proper execution and leadership of key controls for audits and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the main investment accounting consultant, answering questions on data, trends, and system functions, while maintaining compliance with State of Iowa Investment Code and enhancing data within investment systems.
- Develop and maintain investment accounting policies and procedures, prepare internal reports, and foster team collaboration and continuous process improvements, while coaching team members and encouraging innovation.
What you will need to be successful…
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Management with a strong accounting background, and at least 3 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, auditing, or related fields. Experience in insurance and/or investment accounting is preferred.
- Proficient understanding of GAAP accounting, insurance, and investment accounting. Familiarity with accounting systems, key controls, audit reports, report writing tools, and data analysis tools.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with staff and managers within Corporate Accounting and Asset Management partners. Knowledge of complex investment instruments is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and effective problem-solving abilities. Highly organized, self-directed, with the capability to meet strict deadlines and exemplify organizational values.
- CPA or working toward CFA preferred.
