Investment Analyst (Concentrated Public Equities)

Company Overview: A Hedge Fund renowned for its contrarian investment strategy, specializes in identifying undervalued opportunities within the small and mid-cap (SMID cap) universe, leveraging market inefficiencies to generate superior returns. Their concentrated portfolio approach allows them to deeply understand and invest in high-conviction ideas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive fundamental analysis of small and mid-cap companies, including financial statement analysis, industry research, and competitive landscape assessment, channel checks, expert network calls etc.
  • Identify and evaluate investment opportunities that align with investment philosophy.
  • Develop detailed financial models to forecast company performance and assess valuation.
  • Monitor and analyze portfolio holdings, providing regular updates and recommendations
  • Prepare and present investment reports and recommendations to the investment committee.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, economic developments, and relevant news.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. CFA designation or progress towards CFA is a plus.
  • 3-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate investment ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to think independently and challenge consensus views.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Passion for investing
