Site Reliability Engineer
A leading Global High-Frequency Trading firm is looking to expand its team with a skilled and experienced Site Reliability Engineer. As part of a dynamic, high-performance global team, you will oversee the continuous operation of the firm’s Linux-based trading infrastructure. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle day-to-day operational needs while maintaining a focus on performance optimization and scalability in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Linux Infrastructure Management: Oversee and ensure the smooth operation of the firm’s Linux-based trading infrastructure, addressing day-to-day operational needs and performance challenges.
- Second-Level Support: Provide second-level support, including:
- Rapid response to emergencies and troubleshooting critical issues.
- Implementing scheduled updates and deployments to ensure system stability and security.
- Conducting in-depth analysis and resolving performance issues.
- Participating in an on-call rotation, including early morning and weekend shifts, to provide timely and reliable support.
- Automation & Scalability: Contribute to the development of automated solutions for server provisioning, configuration management, and system monitoring, focusing on managing thousands of servers at scale.
- Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Collaborate closely with Trading and Core Engineering teams to ensure infrastructure reliability and performance meets business needs.
- Core Service Management: Manage essential core services such as DHCP, LDAP, DNS, and NFS across on-premises and hosted data centers, as well as public cloud environments.
- On-Call Rotation: Participate in an on-call rotation, ensuring 24/7 support availability and assisting with any infrastructure issues that may arise.
Qualifications:
- Linux Expertise: Strong experience working in Linux production environments, with a solid understanding of Linux internals and system administration.
- Scripting Skills: Basic knowledge of Python and Bash scripting, with the ability to automate operational tasks.
- Automation & Monitoring: Familiarity with automation and monitoring toolsets to streamline workflows and ensure system performance.
- System Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of operating system principles, particularly within Linux environments.
- Hardware & Networking Knowledge: Familiarity with Intel-based server hardware and components. Solid understanding of server-side networking, including network protocols, configurations, and performance optimization.
