Role Overview:
The Senior Product Manager plays a crucial role in managing the profit and loss of a product and/or company and shaping the business development strategy. This position leads a team of Product Managers focused on achieving these goals. Responsibilities include analyzing product and/or company trends and monitoring competitive intelligence. The role requires advanced knowledge of insurance risk, loss exposure assessment, and data analysis to make informed recommendations. Key skills include strategic leadership, innovation, problem-solving, and cross-functional project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and launch new insurance products, expand existing products to new states, and evaluate new third-party data vendors.
- Lead the creation and implementation of underwriting models.
- Oversee data and product analysis efforts, providing recommendations to enhance the product and/or company's profit and loss.
- Collaborate with Underwriting, Marketing, Claims, and Actuarial departments to improve product and/or company performance.
- Identify trends proactively and develop innovative solutions for continuous improvement.
- Manage large cross-functional projects from start to finish.
- Assess the product and/or company's performance in relation to industry trends.
- Understand key metrics driving profit and loss to identify issues, spot trends, and evaluate strategic progress.
- Research and identify best practices by analyzing competitor research and performance data.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Statistics, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field is required.
- A Master's Degree is preferred.
Experience:
- At least six (6) years of relevant industry experience in key functional areas such as Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, or Operations, with a minimum of four (4) years in direct product management or product development.
- Proven project management experience using Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or other methodologies is strongly preferred.
Certifications:
- Preferred certifications include Property and Casualty insurance industry designations (e.g., Associate in Claims [AIC], Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter [CPCU], etc.).
