The Head of Compliance Europe holds a pivotal leadership role within a proprietary trading firm, overseeing compliance operations across the European Trading entities in London, Amsterdam, Switzerland, and in Denmark.
As a strategic partner, the Head of Compliance Europe guides senior leadership and influences key decisions, requiring a visionary approach to developing and implementing a compliance strategy aligned with European and global objectives.
The Role:
- Strategically lead and oversee compliance activities across European Trading entities in London, Amsterdam, Switzerland and Denmark
- Formulate and implement a forward-thinking compliance strategy aligned with European and global objectives, ensuring proactive regulatory adherence
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, offering critical insights on regulatory developments and potential compliance risks to influence decision-making
- Cultivate continuous engagement with entity heads of compliance and key stakeholders to foster a unified compliance approach
- Enhance collaboration and synergy between trading leads, execution developers, and local compliance teams to drive cohesive compliance operations
- Lead comprehensive compliance monitoring and risk assessment initiatives to proactively identify and mitigate regulatory risks
- Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing compliance team across Europe, ensuring strategic alignment and direct reporting from compliance leads in the European Trading entities
The Candidate:
- Over 10 years of experience in European algorithmic trading compliance
- Extensive knowledge of financial markets, trading strategies, and products, with a strong focus on algorithmic trading compliance and surveillance
- Expertise in providing compliance guidance at all business levels, maintaining close collaboration with trading teams
- In-depth understanding of European regulatory frameworks, including IFD/IFR, MiFID/MiFIR, MAR, SSR, EMIR, AML/CTF, REMIT, and MICAR
- Proven ability to lead regulatory business change initiatives, coordinating efforts across multiple stakeholders and geographical locations
- Skilled in enhancing operational compliance activities, monitoring processes, and tools
- Experience in managing geographically dispersed teams
- Strong project management skills to oversee compliance initiatives and coordinate efforts across European entities
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities
- Advanced analytical skills with the capability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex ideas
