AWS - High Performance Computing Specialist

Our client is seeking an experienced AWS Scheduling Tool Specialist to develop and optimise an AWS-based scheduling system for electronic market-making and other front-office operations. This role is essential for ensuring the efficiency of their alpha computation strategies through high-performance computing (HPC) and low-level programming.

About the Role:

In this position, you will be at the forefront of developing and maintaining a sophisticated AWS-based scheduling system. Your work will directly impact the efficiency of the client's electronic market-making functions, ensuring that their computational strategies are both effective and innovative. You will collaborate closely with traders, quants, and technologists to translate complex business requirements into scalable and secure technical solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • HPC Optimisation:

    • Improve alpha computation strategies using parallel computing and efficient resource use.
    • Implement solutions to reduce latency and increase throughput in data processing.
  • AWS Scheduling Tool Development:

    • Design and maintain an AWS-based scheduling system for market-making functions.
    • Optimise the tool to manage compute loads effectively across AWS resources.
  • Low-Level Programming:

    • Develop and optimise performance-critical components in C, C++, or Rust.
    • Address computational bottlenecks to enhance execution speed.
  • Performance Monitoring:

    • Create tools and dashboards for system performance monitoring.
    • Proactively address inefficiencies and failures in the scheduling system or alpha computation work flows.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work with traders, quants, and technologists to align computational strategies with business needs.
    • Translate complex requirements into scalable and secure technical solutions.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, Batch, Step Functions, S3).
  • Advanced programming skills in C, C++, Rust, Python, or Go.
  • Knowledge of low-level system optimisations, memory management, and CPU/GPU performance tuning.
  • Experience in designing and tuning distributed systems for latency-sensitive workloads.
  • Familiarity with electronic trading systems and financial front-office operations.
  • Understanding of alpha computation strategies in a trading environment.
  • Expertise in HPC technologies (MPI, CUDA, OpenMP) is a plus.

Our client is committed to diversity and inclusion, empowering employees to work openly and respectfully. They offer initiatives and programmes to support a healthy work-life balance.
