Chief Risk Officer
My client, a PE-backed MGA platform, has achieved remarkable growth over the past 20 months, completing 5 acquisitions and generating $400 million in premium. They successfully write 12 different lines of business, showcasing their versatility and success in building the business. They are on target to launch 3 new lines this year. Additionally, their approach remains agnostic to specific lines of business, with the loss ratio being a key driving factor.
They are currently looking to hire a Chief Risk Officer to their Executive team. In this role, you will be managing underwriting risk, ensuring portfolio profitability, strengthening carrier relationships and driving the strategic direction of the company. This role will set the direction for risk strategy, product innovation, and actuarial functions across the portfolio. The ideal candidate will have an actuarial background and credentials.
- Work with executive team and optimize the MGA's underwriting portfolio performance, ensuring profitability and risk balance.
- Establish comprehensive risk management framework and strategic direction for the company to go towards
- Oversee underwriting - technically and strategically
- Provide actuarial guidance (on pricing and reserving)
- Identify emerging risks and market trends to adjust business strategies proactively.
- 10+ years of risk management or actuarial experience (reinsurance experience is a plus but not required)
- ACAS or FCAS designation
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Can be a strong leader)
- Strong technical underwriting knowledge across multiple lines of business.
