Associate/VP - Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regional Transaction Execution: Lead the execution of regional M&A transactions from initial pitch through to closing, managing all aspects of the process, including due diligence, financial modelling, deal structuring, and drafting marketing materials (e.g., pitch books, management presentations, confidential information memoranda).

  • Regional Client Interaction: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in the region, acting as a trusted advisor on M&A matters. Provide strategic advice on regional market dynamics, deal structures, and potential opportunities.

  • Financial Analysis & Modeling: Conduct detailed financial analysis and develop financial models (e.g., LBO, DCF, accretion/dilution analysis) to evaluate potential transactions and support client decision-making.

  • Team Management & Mentorship: Manage and mentor junior bankers, providing guidance on technical skills, client interaction, and professional growth. Review and offer feedback on junior team members' work, ensuring the highest quality deliverables.

  • Regional Market Research & Strategy: Monitor regional industry trends, M&A activity, and potential targets/acquisitions. Conduct strategic research to support the development of pitch materials and to identify regional opportunities for clients.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams, including legal, tax, and compliance, to ensure smooth transaction execution. Collaborate with senior bankers and clients in negotiating terms and deal structures, tailored to regional market conditions.

  • Regional Business Development: Support business development efforts within the region, identifying potential new clients, preparing proposals, and assisting in winning new mandates.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3-8 years of experience in M&A, investment banking, or a similar financial services role. Proven experience working on regional M&A transactions and a strong understanding of regional market dynamics is preferred.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field from a top-tier institution. An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus, particularly for VP-level candidates.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modelling, valuation techniques, and Excel. Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint for creating presentations and pitch materials. Experience with transaction documents and structuring, particularly in regional contexts, is essential.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex information to clients and senior stakeholders. Comfortable presenting in front of clients and at internal meetings, especially within the region.

  • Regional Expertise: Deep understanding of the regional M&A landscape, including market trends, regulatory considerations, and key players. Fluency in relevant regional languages is a plus.

  • Leadership & Teamwork: Ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Must be a team player with a collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships both internally and with clients in the region.

  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial modelling, presentation materials, and transaction documentation.

  • Work Ethic & Time Management: Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Previous experience working on cross-border M&A transactions within the region, or with a specific focus on regional industries (e.g., technology, healthcare, energy) is a plus.
  • Fluency in additional languages related to the region is highly valued.
