About the Role

The Observability team provides mission-critical support for many of the firm's centralised logging, metrics, and tracing tools. They oversee the deployment and administration of these applications, ensuring multi-tenant and highly available operations. Additionally, they work closely with other teams to maximise the value of the data produced. This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment with ongoing technical challenges that require continuous learning and adaptability.

Responsibilities
* Provide best-in-class support for our suite of applications.
* Troubleshoot production system incidents and create postmortem artefacts to prevent similar failures in the future.
* Develop automation to streamline administrative tasks related to user onboarding and maintenance.
* Test and automate application upgrades to stay aligned with the latest vendor releases.
* Continuously improve logging, monitoring, and alerting practices.
* Work with vendor support to debug and resolve third-party issues.
* Collaborate with other teams to promote best practices in observability.
* Assist teams in identifying and utilising data effectively through dashboards and alerting.

Required Experience
* 5+ years of industry experience using various logging and monitoring tools.
* Coding experience for automating repetitive tasks.
* Familiarity with CI/CD systems and work flows.
* Knowledge of Git or other version control systems.
* A proactive mindset focused on improving work flows and efficiency.
* Strong troubleshooting skills for complex problems.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, and other observability tools.
* Proficiency in Kubernetes for deploying and maintaining systems.
* Knowledge of Jsonnet or other templating tools for rendering complex YAML/JSON configurations.
* Familiarity with GitOps workflows.
* Strong understanding of configuration management principles.
