Managing Director Tax

Job Title: Director Accounting

Location: Los Angeles or Nashville (On-Site)

Compensation: 200k to 275k base + Bonus

Overview : Currently working with a leading/established financial services firm that specializes in working with high-net-worth individuals and is seeking an experienced Director to lead their Tax function. This individual will report directly into the CEO, have 5 to 10 direct reports, and oversee the firm-wide tax function. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of complex tax issues, a strong understanding of local/state/national/individual tax, a proven track record of managing client relationships, a track record of managing/building teams, and the ability to provide strategic tax planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, build, and manage the tax function
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and strategic tax advice.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of complex individual, trust, and estate tax returns.
  • Stay current with tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for tax savings.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide comprehensive financial planning services.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Represent the firm at industry events and conferences, enhancing the firm's reputation and expanding its network.

Qualifications:

  • Active CPA License
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting, tax practice, or a related firm, with a focus on high-net-worth individuals.
  • 3+ years of direct management
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or equivalent space
  • Strong technical knowledge of individual, trust, and estate tax laws.
  • Excellent client management and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
