Founding Engineer

Currently working with a private equity firm who is looking for a founding engineer. The firm has been around 20+ years but has never invested in technology until now!


They are looking for a Senior Developer who will advise them on their tech stack (front end, back end, cloud and database) while you can build an application that takes in deal data from excel which can displayed in a user-friendly UI for investment professionals to do deal calculations. They are also looking a low code/no code solution for non technical users. This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining our internal infrastructure and client portals. This role requires a strong understanding of software development, system architecture, and the unique needs of the financial services industry.


While they do not have other developers, you will be able to leverage external contractors for any help you may need. You will work closely with the business to translate their requirements and work with vendors as well.

Responsibilities:
* System Design and Development:
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze user and business requirements.
o Design and implement algorithms and flowcharts to create new software programs, processes, and systems.
o Produce efficient and elegant code based on requirements.
o Develop, test, and maintain internal web applications using technologies.
* Portal Management:
o Design and manage internal databases.
o Implement and manage containerized applications.
o Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms, ensuring scalability and security.
* Maintenance and Support:
o Troubleshoot, debug, and maintain existing software to improve performance.
o Compile and assess user feedback to enhance software functionality.
o Ensure the security and integrity of financial data within the portals.
o Manage the vendor relationships for software and platforms.
* Collaboration and Reporting:
o Manage the development projects with the support of the assigned team and manager.
o Work closely with product architects, designers, and other developers to analyze project requirements and define project scope, goals, and timelines.
o Prepare and submit reports on the status of proposal components.
o Conduct ongoing market research to stay updated on industry trends and technologies.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
* 6-10 years of experience in software development, with a focus on internal infrastructure and portal development.
* Prior experience in the financial services industry.
* Strong proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java.
* Experience with web development frameworks and technologies.
* Familiarity with database management systems.
* Knowledge of cloud platforms and deployment strategies.
* Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence tool
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Intellectual curiosity.
* Good judgement.
* Collaborative, team player who will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
