Data Scientist (Shanghai)

We have partnered with a leading quantitative research team in Shanghai to find a skilled Data Scientist. In this role, you will apply your strong analytical abilities, expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis to drive data-driven investment strategies.

Working closely with quantitative researchers and portfolio managers, you will analyze large financial datasets, develop predictive models, and implement algorithms that directly influence trading and investment decisions. Your work will play a critical role in optimizing trading strategies and enhancing our firm’s data-driven decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with quantitative researchers and portfolio managers to analyze and interpret large datasets, providing actionable insights that inform investment strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize predictive models and machine learning algorithms to enhance trading strategies and financial decision-making.
  • Extract, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various sources to enable advanced statistical analysis and model development.
  • Design and execute statistical analyses to validate the performance of trading strategies and models.
  • Create data visualizations and reports to effectively communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and finance, and apply these insights to continuously improve investment strategies and research processes.

Requirements:

  • Education: A Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis, modeling, and algorithm development.
  • Experience: Strong experience in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis, ideally within the financial services or quantitative research industry.
  • Data Management: Solid experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Tableau) and familiarity with database management (SQL, NoSQL).
  • Analytical Thinking: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work with complex datasets, develop models, and optimize strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, interacting with cross-functional teams including researchers, analysts, and portfolio managers.
  • Financial Knowledge: A passion for finance and technology, and an interest in utilizing data science to solve real-world financial challenges.
