Application Support Engineer - Commodities

Role Overview
This role is part of the firm's strategic initiative to expand its commodities physicals business. It involves supporting CTRM (Commodity Trading & Risk Management) software, as well as front-office applications and their integration with middle and back-office systems. The position is front office facing, working closely with portfolio managers, traders, and analysts to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimise commodities trading systems
- Ensure smooth integration across front, middle, and back-office functions
- Partner with portfolio managers, traders, analysts, and developers to resolve issues
- Identify and implement system performance improvements
- Provide overnight and weekend support on a rotational basis
- Collaborate with external vendors to resolve system issues and deliver enhancements
- Manage market data services, including Trayport, B-PIPE, and MorningStar
- Establish clear guidelines for trade flows and procedures
Technical Requirements
- At least five years of experience in investment banking, asset management, commodities trading, or technology support
- Strong experience with CTRM/ETRM platforms such as ION Endur/CXL
- Deep understanding of commodity markets, including power, gas, oil, metals, and emissions
- Hands-on experience with trading platforms such as Trayport Joule, WebICE, and EEX
- Technical expertise in:
- Databases: SQL (MS-SQL)
- Programming: C++, C#, Python
- Messaging platforms: RabbitMQ, Solace, Kafka
- Operating systems: Linux
