Successful new hires into a global tech hub
The challenge
Building a new corporate hub requires a deliberate and methodical approach to guarantee successful commercial outcomes. A large financial services firm in the United States needed to establish a new centre of excellence in technology in a new location, with a focus on fostering growth and innovation. Their requirements meant they needed a partner that understood the implications of expanding into a fresh geography, that could all assist them with multi-hire talent solutions across not just financial services, but software engineering too.
The solution
Collaborating with the expanding company, Selby Jennings delivered a competitor analysis of the new proposed location, offering insights into local talent trends and market research to help the client understand the talent landscape they were moving to.
Through working with senior stakeholders to build a long-lasting hiring strategy, we identified that it would be prudent to enlist Glocomms – because Selby Jennings is part of Phaidon International, talent challenges across just financial sciences & services but also a multitude of innovative industries around the world can additionally be solved by us.
Glocomms is our dedicated technology recruitment brand, therefore by utilising their expertise alongside Selby Jennings’ financial specialists, we developed a talent strategy on how to attract new, experienced tech professionals, based on local data.
We then identified a high volume of candidates through our global network and, due to our deep market knowledge from being on the ground in the particular state the new centre of excellence was being built in, we also tapped into the local talent pool too.
After initiating the search, we then created a customised shortlist of software engineering and fintech talent, qualifying each candidate through several interview stages for the client to ease the burden of recruitment and save time for the hiring managers.
Results
Working with the client and managing a multitude of negotiations, we recruited more than 150 hires into the new global tech hub. Guiding a number of tech professionals through the resignation process with their current employer and helping a handful also relocate, we supported our client post-placements, not only assisting with onboarding, but offering guidance on how to retain these new hires and create a work culture to be proud of.
Ben Hodzic, Managing Director of Selby Jennings USA said of this success:
By combining local market insights with global expertise, Selby Jennings was really proud to work alongside Glocomms in developing a strategic hiring approach that empowered our client to seamlessly create a centre of excellence in technology. Our client was able to leverage our combined deep industry knowledge and extensive candidate network, and as a result we provided a tailored talent solution that delivered top software engineering and fintech professionals, streamlining the hiring process and driving their expansion forward.
Summary
Selby Jennings partnered with a large financial services company to analyse the talent landscape of their new location, leveraging local insights and market data. By collaborating with Glocomms, our standalone technology recruitment brand, we crafted a comprehensive talent strategy to attract skilled fintech professionals. Utilising our global network and local presence, we identified top candidates and created a tailored shortlist, simplifying the hiring process and supported our client's expansion efforts.
