Senior Financial Analyst

Our client is a $100M EV startup that is looking to hire a Senior Financial Analyst to join their team and assist with strategic initiatives (e.g., series funding, FDD) as well as corporate finance functions. In addition to joining a growing company in an exciting space, they also have great WLB and a remote working environment.

The Senior Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Analyst is responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing large datasets to provide valuable insights that drive business decisions and support strategic initiatives. Your work will play a crucial role in optimizing processes, identifying trends, and improving overall efficiency within the Company. This individual must be able to move from the executive level to hands-on detail. Must be data driven, with advanced excel skills to improve and maintain complex models, and with the strong aptitude to adopt and implement new analytics technology across FP&A. Must bring an entrepreneurial mindset to effectively communicate and collaborate cross functionally with strong analytics and business intelligence skills. Driving and implementing processes to ensure data and analyses are used to inform Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Project Accounting. Must also ensure that high volume transactional data is accurate and timely to inform business decisions and analysis. This role reports to the Vice President of Finance.
Responsibilities
  • Improve and Maintain the Forecasting Model: The forecasting model in excel is to be improved and maintained monthly for re-forecasting, budget vs actual analysis, and impacted changes on cash flow.
  • Datarails Administrator: Datarails is a reporting tool used to streamline our FP&A reporting requirements. This role involves managing the dashboards, integrating new reporting based on demand, and the upkeep of data accuracy.
  • Salesforce Data Integrity: Salesforce manages all project data that is used for forecasting. The role requires developing, maintaining, and ongoing verification of data integrity, process efficiencies, and reporting.
  • Data-driven Insights: Utilize data analysis to provide actionable insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Financial Analysis and Strategic Initiatives: Assist with performance of quantitative analysis to forecast trends, assess risks, and suggest strategic financial projections. Utilize data analysis, financial statements, KPIs, and other financial metrics to provide actionable insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Electricity Revenue and Cost Ownership: Responsible for collecting electricity revenue and cost data from various sources to compile margin analyses and produce monthly and quarterly reporting for stakeholders.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with intracompany teams to assist in budgeting and financial forecasting processes. Use data analysis to support resource allocation and planning.
  • Reporting and Visualization: Prepare clear and concise financial reports, charts, and visualizations to communicate complex data to stakeholders and management. Design and maintain interactive dashboards to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
  • Cost-Benefit Analysis: Conduct cost-benefit analyses for various projects to determine their financial viability and potential ROI, NPV, IRR and free cash flow.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Participate in financial evaluations of strategic initiatives. Streamline processes to ensure speedy and accurate reporting across the company.
  • Data Management: Responsible for accurate and organized data within the firm, which includes analysis of accuracy, implementations of improvement, and ongoing monitoring of processes.
  • Monthly Reporting: Responsible for revenue share, utility reimbursement, refunds analysis, RFID billing reporting monthly.
  • Backlog Management: Assist the VP of Finance in backlog and pipeline organization, dependent on cashflow needs and constraints.

Finance Related
  • Financial Planning: Assist in the development and execution of the company's financial planning processes, including financial models, forecasting tools, and budgeting processes. Ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency in data and analysis.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate financial reports and dashboards for executive management and department heads, providing insights into the company's performance, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Manage stakeholder analysis requests.
  • Forecasting and Variance Analysis: Assist in budget planning design and implementation process, subsequently monitor performance against budgets and forecasts. Conduct variance analysis to identify key drivers of performance. Work with teams to implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Participate in financial evaluations of strategic initiatives. Provide financial models, scenario analysis, and business case evaluations to support decision-making. Lead financial research efforts and prepare necessary memorandums and procedures regarding the organization's position and impact on the organization.
  • Process Improvements: Continuously enhance FP&A processes and systems to drive efficiency and accuracy. Streamline reporting and budgeting processes to enable more effective decision-making.

Data Related
  • Data Management and Integration: Assist in the design of Salesforce solutions and related integrations between Salesforce and other enterprise systems, ensuring data integrity and consistency across platforms. This includes inventory management integration between Sales Force and Kechie, integration between Salesforce and the new project management tool for process flows, and file data management between Drop Box and Salesforce.
  • Salesforce Platform Optimization: Identify opportunities for optimization, enhancement, and standardization to improve overall performance for data integrity. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and sustainable solutions.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • At least 5 years' experience within Financial Due Diligence, Investment Banking, Financial Analyst, or similar role.
  • Must be proficient in financial software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent excel skills are required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets.
  • Proficient in financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
  • Experience working in an inter-project dynamic driving common data goal across multiple departments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Exceptional ability to drive data accuracy across the company through communication with all departments.
  • Experience as a Sales Force administrator, a plus.
  • Experience in Datarails, a plus.
  • Experience in Tableau, a plus.

Location: This is a remote role, based in Southern California. The role requires meeting in person on an as-needed basis and for some periods on a sustained basis.
